When insurance covers a fallen tree

In Minnesota, if a tree falls and hits a covered structure — house, garage, fence — your homeowner's policy generally pays for the damage and a capped amount of removal, regardless of whose tree it was. A tree that falls and hits nothing is usually your own cost.

Photograph before anything is cut, keep the debris until the adjuster has seen it, and get the claim number before removal starts.
