Ice dams are a ventilation problem
If you get ice dams every winter, the roof surface is not the root cause — heat escaping into the attic is. We look at insulation depth, air sealing, and intake and exhaust ventilation, because a repaired shingle does not stop a dam from forming again next January.
Repair or replace?
If the roof is under 15 years old with isolated damage, repair. If it is at end of life, curling and losing granules across the field, or you have had three repairs in two years, replacement is the cheaper path.

FAQ
Can you repair a roof in winter?
Emergency repairs and tarping, yes. Shingles need to be warm enough to seal, so cold-weather work uses hand-sealing and may need revisiting in spring.
Will insurance cover storm damage?
Often, for wind and hail. We document the damage with photos and can meet your adjuster on site.
Why do I get ice dams?
Heat leaking into the attic melts snow that refreezes at the cold eave. The fix is air sealing, insulation, and balanced ventilation — not just more shingles.
