Gutters & Downspouts

Seamless aluminum gutters, downspouts, and gutter guards.

Gutters and downspouts

Seamless aluminum gutters, downspouts, extensions, and gutter guards. In Minnesota, gutters are not a cosmetic detail — they are the front line against wet basements and ice dams.

What we install

  • Seamless 5" and 6" aluminum, rolled on site so there are no mid-run seams to leak
  • Heavier .032 aluminum and hidden hangers screwed into the fascia
  • Oversized 6" gutters and 3x4 downspouts on steep or large roof areas — the standard 5"/2x3 setup overflows in a hard Minnesota rain
  • Downspout extensions carrying water at least 6 feet from the foundation
  • Gutter guards where trees make cleaning a constant chore
  • Fascia and soffit repair when we find rot behind the old gutter

Typical cost

WorkTypical
Seamless 5" aluminum$8 – $15 per linear ft
6" oversized aluminum$12 – $20 per linear ft
Downspouts$10 – $18 per linear ft
Gutter guards$8 – $22 per linear ft
Full average home$1,500 – $4,500

Wet basement? Start here

Before anyone sells you drain tile, check the gutters. Overflowing or disconnected gutters dump hundreds of gallons directly against the foundation in a single storm. Fixing gutters and extending downspouts solves a large share of the basement water calls we see — for a fraction of what interior drainage costs.

FAQ

Are 6 inch gutters worth it?

On large or steep roof planes, yes. Standard 5 inch gutters with 2x3 downspouts overflow in heavy Minnesota rain, which puts the water right at your foundation.

Do gutter guards stop ice dams?

No. Ice dams come from attic heat loss, not gutters. Guards reduce cleaning; air sealing, insulation, and ventilation stop dams.

How far should downspouts extend?

At least 6 feet from the foundation, discharging onto ground that slopes away. Short extensions are one of the most common causes of a wet basement.
